Teledyne DALSA introduces AxCIS, a new family of high-speed, high-resolution fully integrated line scan imaging modules. This easy-to-use Contact Image Sensor (CIS) combines a sensor, lens, and light into a single, low-cost inspection system for many demanding machine vision applications.

AxCIS features Teledyne's new four-channel linear CMOS image sensor, which provides high-accuracy defect detection with up to 120 kHz monochrome line rate and 60 kHz x 3 color line rate at 900 dpi. The unique interleaved sensor design covers the full field of view with no dead pixels, providing a 100% seamless image without interpolation. Dual exposure mode enables HDR imaging, improved dynamic range, and improved detectability of highly reflective materials.

The starting width of AxCIS is only 400mm, 800mm (other widths are incremented by 100mm), and it is suitable even where the vertical spacing of the system is very narrow. Its Camera Link HS SFP+ fiber optic interface transmits high-resolution images over standard low-cost long cables (up to 300m) with high data transmission reliability.

"AxCIS is a fully integrated, easy-to-use, cost-effective line scan imaging solution that meets the requirements of space-constrained systems such as printing, printed circuit boards, and paper defect monitoring," said Xing-Fei He, Senior Product Manager, Teledyne DALSA. "Excellent image quality, high resolution imaging at 900 dpi plus HDR mode significantly improves detectability for demanding applications such as lithium battery inspection."

Teledyne DALSA, part of Teledyne's Vision Solutions group, specializes in the design, manufacture and deployment of digital imaging components for machine vision. Teledyne DALSA image sensors, cameras, smart cameras, frame grabbers, software and vision solutions are at the heart of thousands of inspection systems in multiple industries around the world.
