Analog Devices ADM1293 and ADM1294 digital power monitors with PMBus interface, high-precision, integrated digital power monitors provide digital current, voltage and power monitoring using an on-chip 12-bit analog-to-digital converter (ADC) through PMBus-compatible I2C interface Communicate. Both devices use an external sense resistor to determine the current by measuring the voltage difference. The internal 12-bit ADC amplifies and digitizes the voltage, and can also sample the main input and auxiliary input voltages simultaneously. Internal digital modules perform the product of current and primary input voltage to calculate power, and these devices have energy accumulators to measure electrical energy. The industry standard PMBus interface enables the main controller to read data from the device. The main controller combines the information with the known sense resistor values to calculate the time-varying current, voltage, power and energy consumption on the monitored track. The temperature range of ADM1293 and ADM1294 is -40C to 125C. The ADM1293 is designed for high-end power monitoring (0V to 20V), while the ADM1294 is designed for low-end power monitoring (-48V to 0V with integrated shunt regulator).
